Is Paint Correction Worth It Before Applying Ceramic Coating?

I’ve noticed that many car owners apply ceramic coating expecting perfect results, but they often ignore the condition of the paint underneath. If swirl marks, oxidation, or scratches already exist, the coating can actually lock those imperfections in rather than hide them. That’s why paint preparation seems extremely important before any protective treatment is applied.

While researching professional detailing methods, I learned that proper paint correction helps remove surface defects and restores the original gloss of the vehicle before coating or sealing. Skilled polishing techniques can dramatically improve reflection and smoothness, especially on darker cars that easily show paint imperfections under sunlight. Another thing I realized is that corrected paint not only looks better but also allows ceramic coatings to bond more effectively for longer durability. Many people focus only on the final coating product, but surface preparation appears to be the real key to premium results. Have any of you done paint correction before ceramic coating, and was the difference noticeable afterward?
