Parking Lot Striping Repainting – Worth It or Not?

Hey everyone,

I wanted to get some thoughts on parking lot striping repainting because I’ve been looking into it for a property I manage. The lines are starting to fade, and honestly, it’s already causing a bit of confusion with parking and traffic flow.

From what I’ve learned (especially from sites like Yellow Dawg Striping), repainting isn’t just about making the lot look better—it actually improves safety and keeps everything organized. Clear markings help drivers park properly, reduce accidents, and make the whole place look more professional.

One thing that stood out to me is how important it is for ADA compliance too. If handicap spots and markings aren’t clearly visible, it could lead to fines or liability issues. That alone makes repainting feel more necessary than optional.

They also mentioned that most lots should be repainted every 1–2 years depending on traffic, which I didn’t realize before. Makes sense though, especially in busy areas.

I’m also considering whether to just repaint the existing lines or redesign the layout a bit to improve space usage. Has anyone here done that? Did it make a noticeable difference?

Would love to hear your experiences—how often do you repaint, and do you go DIY or hire professionals?
